Councilman Michael Nowakowski will host his first monthly chat of the year at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, at the Cesar Chavez Library, 3635 W. Baseline Road.  The Councilman will discuss priorities for the year and will welcome questions from residents.  

Also joining him will be members from the South Mountain Works Coalition to highlight an initiative called the social host ordinance.   This city ordinance would increase penalties for adults responsible for providing minors with alcohol or other illegal substances.  The group is partnering with the Phoenix Police and Neighborhood Services departments, Mountain Park Health Center, and the Roosevelt School District, among others, to help drive positive change in the community and set new standards for safe, caring, drug-free families.  The overall goal is to increase awareness about the dangers of underage drinking for parents and the broader community.
