Public Meeting - Site Selection
Manzanita Senior Center Relocation
The Phoenix Human Services Department is holding a public meeting to discuss the proposed
purchase of 4.46 acres of vacant land for construction of a new Manzanita Senior Center.
Funding for this purchase is from the 2006 Capital Improvement Bond program. Actual
construction funding will be requested as part of the next Capital Improvement Bond program.
The property is located on the west side of 27th Avenue between Orangewood Nazarene Church and Fire Station 30

Public Meeting - Site Selection
Fire Station 59
The Phoenix Fire Department will begin selection of a site for new Fire Station 59.
The proposed location is 65th Avenue and Buckeye Road. The project is to be funded
through the 2001 City of Phoenix Capital Improvement Fire Bond Program. The estimated
project schedule includes site selection approval Winter 2009. Construction will begin
Fall 2009 with completion in Summer 2010. The estimated total project cost is $6 million.

PUBLIC MEETING - DESIGN PHASE
SOUTH MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY COLLEGE - PHOENIX PUBLIC LIBRARY JOINT-USE LIBRARY
A joint-use library is being constructed on the South Mountain Community College
campus by South Mountain Community College and Phoenix Public Library. This 56, 000
square-foot facility is funded by the 2006 Phoenix Citizen's Bond Program and the 2004
Maricopa Community College District Bond Program. Construction begins in 2010 and,
when complete, the new library will offer programs and materials for children, teens,
and adults. There are two meetings on the same date, at the same location, affording citizens
even greater opportunity for input and involvement.
